Fears pre-clearance start date could be hit by electrician strike

The Mayor of Clare is warning that the local economy is starting to feel the impact of the electrician’s dispute in the region.

 

It comes amid fears the start up date for pre-clearance could be delayed due to the action at Shannon Airport by the t double e workers.

The electricians are also involved in the complex overlay work being carried out on the runway and there are concerns over rising costs due to the pickets.

 

Employers are describing the action as extremely damaging, claiming its putting thousands of jobs at risk.

 

Mayor of Clare and Fine Gael Councillor Tony Mulcahy says while an official dispute has to be recognised, he’s appealing to both sides to return to talks.

 

However speaking to Clare Fm workers on the picket line in Shannon and at Roche Pharmaceutical in Clarecastle say they have been left with no other choice,
