A Clare Fine Gael TD has been fine 150 euro for speeding and had a another case struck out at Ennis District Court.
Joe Carey pleaded guilty to an offence of driving at a speed of 73kph in a 50kph zone on August 25th 2013 at Ballaghafadda West outside Clarecastle.
Joe Carey escaped one sanction from speeding on the outskirts of his native village of Clarecastle after Judge Patrick Durcan struck out the summons.
Garda Dermot O’Rourke said that he detected Deputy Carey driving at 71kph in a 50kph zone at Ballaghafadda West on on October 14th last
Challenging the prosecution Solicitor, John Callinan said the space where the picture of Deputy Carey’s car registration should appear on the documentation was blacked out.
Garda O’Rourke said that occurred because the page went through the photocopier so many times.
Earlier Deputy Carey pleaded guilty to a separate alleged speeding offence on August 25th 2013 – again at Ballaghafadda West outside Clarecastle.
Judge Patrick Durcan imposed 150 euro fine.
