Fifteen Assisted In Two Rescues On Lough Derg, River Shannon

Fifteen people have been assisted in two separate rescues on Lough Derg.

Just after 4 o’clock last evening, an emergency call was made to the Irish Coast Guard from a vessel which had struck Killaloe Bridge.

There were six people on board, all of whom were transferred safely to shore by the Killaloe Coast Guard, while it was decided to leave the boat itself in situ until today.

Earlier in the day, the Lough Derg RNLI assisted nine people who were on board a 55ft vessel that had run aground near Drominagh on Lough Derg.
