Clare has a higher rate of divorce than the national average.
An analysis of Circuit Court data, outlined in today’s Irish Examiner, has found that more than 4,100 couples applied for divorce in 2016, with another 1,300 couples seeking a judicial separation.
While Carlow has the highest divorce rate in the country, Clare has the fourth highest with a rate of divorce that’s described as being ‘well above the national average.’

The lowest divorce rate was in Leitrim.
