Residental and commerical development in Clare came to a virtual standstill in 2012.
Figures from Geo Directory show there were 531 new building in the county last year – up just 2 on the 2011 figure of 529- representing a zero growth for the year
Most of the new structures recorded were residental buildings along with 41 commerical developments and 26 dual purpose projects, comprising of both business and residental.
The figures also show that over a tenth of this remained vacent by the end of 2012, while work a further 64 buildings were under contruction by December.
Clare’s zero growth compares to the national aaverage of 2 percent while the county also recorded the lowest number of new additions nationally, with 2 buildings identified.
