It’s Mary McAleese’s last day as the President of Ireland.
Tomorrow, Ireland’s ninth President Michael D Higgins will be inaugurated as her successor.

The 60 year old has spent the last 14 years in office and will go down in history as being the first Irish President to welcome a British Monarch to the Republic.
