It was another busy night for Clare’s fire-fighters as they dealt with a series of wildfires across the county.
The most serious of the incidents was in the Kilmaley -Lissycasey area.
Fire officers from Ennis were called to the scene at around 5 o’clock and were soon joined by colleagues from Kilrush.
At one point 8 units from both towns were battling the gorse fire, it was finally brought under control at around 9 pm.
In East Clare, crews from Killaloe fire station were dispatched to another wildfire in Ballycuggeran Woods opposite the UL Activity Centre at around 9 pm- and remained at the scene until 1 am.
At 2 am – fire officers from Scarriff were called in to deal with a gorse fire in the Whitegate area – they stood down just after four – Crews had already dealt with a similar smaller blaze in the same area earlier yesterday evening.
While in Shannon fire officers attended the scene of a minor fire on scrubland in Cluain Airne and brought it under control within an hour.
