County Clare’s newly elected senators get down to business today.
The first meeting of the 24th Seanad takes place at Leinster House at 2.30 with two Clare representatives among its numbers.
Fine Gael’s Martin Conway and Tony Mulcahy were elected to the Administrative and Labour panels of the Upper House last month.
The full line up of senators was completed at the weekend when the Taoiseach announced his 11 nominations including, Dr Martin McAleese, former international athlete Eamon Coghlan, and academic and rights campaigner Katherine Zappone.
