Christmas trees in homes across Clare could have a sporting future ahead of them, even if its just a brief one.
The current world record for Christmas tree-throwing is 12 metres, but today Ennis Councillor Brian Meaney has organised Ireland’s first ever championships in the grounds of Our Lady’s Hospital on the Gort Road.

The Christmas trees will be recycled later and all proceeds from the event will go to the building of a new Dog Shelter for the county.
