The statistic comes from a new set of CSO figures, which also show how 6,300 drivers here received penalty points last year.
Speeding was the most common offence, and men are more likely to be caught than women, followed by driving while on the phone and failing to display without a valid NCT cert.
The same set of figures also show there over 5,500 drivers on learner permits here – 11 of them aged 80 and over.
