Flooding Hits Many Parts Of Clare

Homes have been evacuated in Lahinch as a mixture of spring tides, strong winds and heavy rains hit the county’s coast.

Premises along Golf Links Road and the Promenade have been badly hit, and it’s understood some have been flooded.

As of 9:20 a.m., the  Lahinch-Liscannor Road and the route from Cappa to Aylevaroo are both impassable.

Two cars have been stuck in floods at Ballycorrick Bridge, which is blocked at both sides.

Flooding has also been reported near the Clare Inn. Council crews are currently working to clear the Kilrush-Killimer road between Roadstone and Moneypoint.

A diversion is in place in Lahinch, while The Long Pavement at Parteen is flooded.

The road at Quilty had been blocked by sea debris but this has been cleared.

Trees which had fallen im Sixmilebridge have been cleared, and flooding as eased in Clarecastle too. The Cliffs of Moher visitor centre is closed this morning due to high winds.
