Flight services at Shannon Airport this morning are returning to normal this morning, following dense foggy conditions last evening.

Several flights to European and transatlantic destinations were either cancelled or delayed  yesterday due to the adverse weather conditions.

Managment is urging intending passengers today to check with their airlines before heading out to Shannon, but conditions have largely improved and departures and arrivals this morning are largely running to schedule.

Meanwhile, the Clare woman tasked with overseeing the future growth and developement of Shannon Airport is set to outline these plans to TDs at Lenister House today.

Newquay native Rose Hynes will appear before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications later this morning where she will respond to questions on the stragedy to boost passenger numbers and the creation of the Irish Aviation Services Centre at Shannon.

The task force which Ms Hynes chaired prior to seperation from the DAA , estimated that between 3,000 and 3,500 jobs could be created over the next five years through the development of the aviation centre.
