Food Safety Chief Executive Allays E-Coli Fears

The chief executive of the Food Safety Authority is seeking to allay consumer fears over a deadly outbreak of E-coli in Europe.

18 people have died from the mutant strain of the bacteria – and scores more been struck down with the illness.

Three people in the US have been infected, after traveling to Europe.

But Alan Reilly of the Food Safety Authority says Irish consumers don’t have anything to worry about, as the contaminated products have not reached Irish shores.
