A former Clare TD says he’s hopeful that a new report outlining the prevelence of ‘superbugs’ in Irish hospitals will lead to action on the issue.
Councillor James Breen, who himself contracted MRSA, in a doctors surgery, was speaking after a HSE survey found 5% of patients in Irish hospitals acquire an infection during their stay.

The report found that figures at Ennis General were broadly in line with the national average, though management have expressed hopes that the new ‘Sari-compliant’ facility at the hospital will help reduce incidences of infection in the future.
