Former DUP Leader Ian Paisley Has Died

Former DUP leader and Northern Ireland First Minister Ian Paisley has died at the age of 88.

The clergyman began a forty-year stint as an MP for North Antrim in 1970 and founded the Democratic Unionist Party in the same year.

He opposed a number of political agreements relating to northern ireland including the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. 

He refused to enter power-sharing for a number of years, but later reversed his position and served as the North's First Minister from 2007.
