The former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been sentenced to life in prison for conspiracy to kill protestors during the uprising there last year.
There were fears the 84 year old – who is in ill health – would be acquitted because of claims that the defence didn’t furnish enough evidence.

But the verdict has been delivered this morning amid violent and chaotic scenes in the courtroom as Hosni Mubarak was led away to prison on a hospital bed.
