A former head of Shannon Development has been appointed as President of Limerick Institute of Technology.
Professor Vincent Cunnane has been appointed on a seven year term, following a public procuremnet process, and takes up his post for the incoming academic year.

He has said that LIT faces both challenges and opportunities, and that it has a key role to play in driving the Mid-West forward.
Professor Cunnane is currently President of IT Sligo, and has previously served as Vice President of Research at the University Limerick, where he also lectured and researched.
