Four extra priests in Killaloe Diocese

 

The number of full time priests in the Killaloe Diocese has increased.

In the statement of Annual Diocesan Appointments there are four more serving priests now than last July.

There are currently 99  priests in full-time parish ministry in the Diocese – that’s up from 95 last year.

However one Clare Parish is set to lose its priest in residence -Fr James O’Brien will move from Killanena-Flagmount to serve as assistant priest in Feakle.

One new parish priest has been appointed. Father Brendan Quinlivin who is the Priest in Residence in Feakle has become the Parish Priest of Scariff and Feakle with pastoral responsibility for Killanena-Flagmount.

Among the other changes -Fr Pat Sexton, Priest in Residence in Scariff will retire while Fr Michael McLaughlin, P.P. in Kilmaley will now  be the Priest in Residence.

Father Martin Blake will move from Ennis to Kilrush -while Fr Michael Collins goes to Maynooth and two students last year Fr. Ger Fitzgerald and Fr. Ger Jones take up appointments in Ennis and Nenagh.

The diocese also benefits from the service of 4 priests from other dioceses or religious congregations while Bishop Emeritus Dr Willie Walsh will be available pastorally to the parishes surrounding Ennis.
