Clare’s tourist groups and local authorities are being urged to promote Ennis Friary to visitors, after it was confirmed that free entry will be on offer once the famous site is opened to the public.
The 13th Century Franciscan Friary is currently closed to the public – the Office of Public Works, who maintain the site, say this is due to ongoing conservation works.

However, in a statement to Clare FM, a spokesperson for the OPW has confirmed that it will re-open in Mid-June and that entry will be free of charge for the remainder of the season.
