Fresh Concerns In Light Of New Health Research

Concern is being raised in Clare about the latest HSE report on the quality of healthcare in Ireland.

The document shows 66 people died at Ennis General Hospital due to a heart attack between 2011 and 2013 within 30 days of admission – compared with 119 in the same period at Nenagh Hospital.

The first-of-its-kind research also finds that the death rate for some types of strokes is higher than the national average at University Hospital Limerick.

Prominent health campaigner and Barefield Independent Councillor Ann Norton has welcomed the document but believes it won't change the system as it stands.
