Fresh council efforts to allay fears over new Ennis Youth Cafe.

Management at Ennis Town Council are to invite residents concerned about a new Youth Cafe development to further meetings in a bid to allay their fears about anti-social behaviour and crime.

It follows another protest outside last evening’s meeting of the town Council where up to 70 Cloughleigh, Circular Road and Hermitage residents vowed to keep up the fight against the new Youth Cafe and Community Resource building, due to it’s proximity to mainly elderly residents.

Following a special deputation before the meeting, The Ennis Town Engineer said he was vexed by suggestions that no planning notice had been displayed for the building, and the Town Manager said the position remained the same on the Youth Cafe going ahead.

But the executive now hopes to convey the positive aspects of the project to locals and to bury any negative suggestions of the site becoming a methadone or needle exchange clinic.

Resident’s spokesperson Geraldine Dinan said that was never their issue
