Fresh flood warning issued for Clare

Clare residents are being warned of potential flooding over the coming days.

People in low-lying coastal areas in particular have been put on alert, as Clare County Council says flooding is possible due to the combined effects of the weather, tides and river flows.

Coastal locations in the West of Ireland are expected to be affected by heavy rainfall, tidal surges and severe gales on tomorrow night and on Friday.

Clare County Council, in conjunction with local Emergency Services, is pressing ahead with contingency arrangements in terms of additional pumping capacity and other flood alleviation measures at flood prone locations.

River levels have increased significantly over the past week, and arrangements have been put in place to continuously monitor the situation.

Land, home and business owners along with motorists are being urged to exercise increased vigilance over the coming days. Advice is available on www.flooding.ie.
