Frustration over lack of news on safety audit results

Locals in Kilkee have expressed their frustration after Clare County Council admitted  it will be next week before any decision is announced on the town’s diving equipment.

The local authority is currently going through the recommendations contained in a safety audit of the diving boards at Newfoundout as well as ladders at the Pollock Holes, Burns Cove, Edmonds Point and Georges Head but copies have also been set on to the insurance assessors and the health and safety officer.

A spokesperson for the council says its will be Monday or Tuesday before they will be able to make any announcement on the future of the equipment.

Kilkee town Councillor Elaine Haugh Hayes has described it as extremely frustrating and is urging the local authority to made an announcement sooner rather than later given the importance of the diving equipment to the West Clare seaside town.
