Six Clare festivals have been granted funding by the Arts Council to assist with the running of the events this summer.
The latest round of funding under the Small Festivals Scheme means events in Clare this year will receive funding amounting to almost 70,000 euro.
In total, the six Clare festivals which have received funding under Round 2 of the Arts Council’s Small Festivals Scheme will share just under under 28,000 euro
The funding is aimed at small locally-based events and festivals and will see the Feakle International Traditional Music Festival receive the highest amount in Clare at 9,000 euro
5,000 euro has been granted to the Winter Music Weekend Festival in Sixmilebridge while The Clare Festival of Traditional Singing and the ‘Nell’ Galvin Traditional Music Weekend have been awarded 4,000 euro each
The Music in the Glen festival will receive just under 3,500 euro, and Doonbeg’s Willie Keane Memorial Weekend has received 2,500 euro.
Five other festivals in the county shared 41,500 euro under the first round of the Small Festivals Scheme for 2011.
