The West Clare economy looks set to be the big beneficiary of a major award being presented to Loop Head Tourism today.
Loop Head will be formally crowned as Ireland’s European Destination of Excellence for Aquatic Tourism at a function hosted by Failte Ireland in Kilkee later today.
Local groups and tourism providers collaborated on the entry which was chosen for the sustainable management and promotion of the marine environment including whale and dolphin watching, sailing, diving, cliff angling and coastal walks.
West Clare representatives have been concerned at being overlooked by Tourists headed to North Clare attractions, but Fiona Monaghan of Failte Ireland says this award is a major marketing tool for Loop Head, with more international attention to come
