Further water shortages possible

Clare County Council is warning that further areas may be affected by loss of water supply in the coming days as weather related water problems continue.

It comes as many householders remain without water due to frozen or burst pipes and as homes in Ennis, Shannon, Tulla, Sixmilebridge and other areas remain subject to night time shut offs to conserve supplies.

Consumers in West Clare Meanwhile are being asked to check for leaks due to a dramatic increase in demand.

Clare County Council’s experiencing a dramatic increase in demand especially in the Shannon and Loop Head areas as a result of increased leakage, pipe bursts and unnecessary usage or wasting of water.

In an effort to minimise potential disruption to supply, the Council is asking water consumers to urgently check their premises for leaks or unnecessary usage particularly in the West Clare areas of Querrin, Doonaha and Carrigaholt.
