Clare’s County Councillors are expected to select a Presidential candidate to back at their meeting this afternoon.
Five Presidential hopefuls outlined their cases to the local authority last week, but at that stage local representatives did not choose who they would back from Mary Davis, Sean Gallagher, Pat Jones, Ennis man Dermot Mulqueen and Senator David Norris
However, Mr. Gallagher is expected to get the backing of Clare County Council this afternoon as a motion has been tabled to support his candidacy
