Garda Appeal Following Two Armed Incidents At Shops In Ennis and Shannon

Witnesses are being sought after two incidents in which staff at two Clare businesses were threatened by men brandishing weapons.

Gardaí say an incident at a shop in Ennis in the early hours of this morning was traumatic, while in a separate incident on Saturday night, a Shannon restaurant was targetted by a teenager carrying a knife.

Shortly after one o’clock this morning, a man entered the Centra store on the Gort Road in Ennis wearing a white hazmat suit with a hood, a blue face mask and orange gloves.

The man was also carrying what’s been described as “an implement.”

It’s understood he threated a staff member and managed to make his escape with the contents of the till, on foot, in the direction of the Gort Road/Watery Road area.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 68 48 100.

In a separate incident in Shannon on Saturday night, a teenager wearing a black hoody, black face mask and carrying a knife entered the Shannon Palace Chinese Restaurant in Tullyvarraga and demanded money from the staff.

The staff member ran to the back of the restaurant and the intruder was subsequently challenged by other employees and left the scene empty handed.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of the restaurant and saw this male or who may have dash cam footage is being asked to contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365900.
