Gardai are trying to establish the identity of a man recovered from the sea at the Cliffs of Moher.
It’s believed the body may have been in the water for up to three weeks.
The remains of the man were spotted floating in the sea close to O Brien’s Tower by two tourists walking along the cliffs, shortly after 6 o clock yesterday evening.
The emergency services were alerted and members of the Doolin Unit of the Irish Coast Guard attended the scene and the body of the man was removed around an hour later.
Gardai believe the man was in his late 20’s or early 30’s and may have been in the water for up to 3 weeks.
There have been no reports of any missing persons in the area and Gardai are appealing for the public’s help in identifying the man.
A post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death is due to be carried out later today
