A garda investigation is underway after a man in West Clare was confronted by a vigilante group who accused him of attempting to groom children as young as eight years old.
A video emerged on social media by a group which said it had posed as children when speaking with the man.
The video in question shows a vigilante group confronting a man in Kilkee about his online activities.
The group, known as Child Protection Awareness, says it’s aim is to bring awareness to parents and guardians about the dangers of online grooming, by exposing predators across the island of Ireland.
The video, which has now been viewed by thousands of people, centres around accusations by the group that the man contacted people posing as children as young as eight, through a messenging app.
The footage ends after Gardaí arrived at the scene.
No arrest was made, but Gardaí say an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
