Clare Gardai are renewing their road safety message as the big freeze looks set to continue right through the weekend and into next week.
49 Clare Schools will remain closed today, and driving conditions around the county aren’t expected to see any improvement for some days to come with Clare County Council’s gritting crews continuing to operate daily on the main roads.

Gardai are also urging people to check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours as the cold snap continues with many people left housebound for a number of weeks now.
Meetings between the council and Gardai are taking place regularly as both authorities consider stepping up their approach to the sub zero weather and its related problems as they enter their fourth week.
