Gardaí have carried out house to house enquiries following the alleged assault of a teenager on Monastery Road at lunchtime yesterday.

It’s believed the thirteen year old boy was set upon by two boys from another school, both aged fourteen, sometime between 1 and 2pm.

The victim was taken to a medical centre in Ennistymon, suffering from headache and vommitting.

He was then airlifted to University Hospital Limerick, where he’s being treated for head injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

Inspector Paul Slattery says Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry.

It’s understood the thirteen year old victim was detained in hospital overnight but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

And Inspector Slattery says they’re taking the matter very seriously.
