Clare gardaí are hunting three men following a botched robbery at the Bank of Ireland in Scarriff.
The masked gang targeted the premises on Bridge Street in the East Clare town at around 4 o’clock this morning.

They severed communication wires in an attempt to deactivate the alarm and then cut through security bars on a side window of the building to gain access.
However the alarm went off a short time later and they fled the scene empty handed.
The bank remains closed today while a technical examination of the scene takes place and gardaí are trawling through CCTV footage.
