Gardai are investigating a fire which occurred in Ennis overnight.
The fire broke out at the Ashline halting site on the Kilrush Road in Ennis shortly before two o’clock this morning.
The Ennis fire service sent two units to tackle the blaze, as well as a hydraulic lift, and the fire was brought under control at around a quarter to four.
Two houses were substantially damaged in the fire, though both were unoccupied at the time and no one was injured.
As of yet the cause of the fire is unknown, but sources tell Clare FM that it does appear to be ‘suspicious’.
Gardai have not confirmed whether or not the fire is linked to an ongoing feud in the town, which led to violent scenes on the streets of Ennis earlier this week.
