Farming organisations are appealing to home-owners to keep their dogs indoors overnight following a vicious sheep attack in Roscommon.
Gardaí are investigating after 46 ewes in lamb were killed on a farm near Castlerea last weekend- and a further seven may have to be put down due to the trauma of the incident.

Up to seven dogs were involved in the vicious attack on up to 95 ewes.
There are also reports of a second similar incident in Laois – where 14 sheep were killed
