Clare Gardai have issued a special warning to motorists travelling to be with loved ones this Christmas.
It comes as Met Éireann issues a level orange warning as stormy conditions are set to hit Clare tonight, bringing gusts of up to 100 km/h.

Officers are urging drives to do a thorough check of their vehicle before embarking on their journey to ensure that tires have the proper thread depth, lights are working and that the vehicle has sufficient oil and water.
Gardai are also appealing to those travelling to allow extra time for their journey as the roads get busier and to beware of debris and surface water.
