Garth Brooks Controversy Rolls On

The controversy over Garth's Brooks Croke Park concerts has returned to the Dáil Chamber today.

Fianna Fáil's spoksperson on Tourism Timmy Dooley has criticised the Taoiseach's intervention overnight say it's come too late.

Talks are to take place today between the Dublin City Manager, the city's Lord Mayor and the Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission in an effort to salvage all five Garth Brooks concerts.

However Mountshannon TD Dooley has been criticised by the new Tánaiste Joan Burton for looking for a solution at leader's questions today.

The US Embassy says it's not aware of any request from residents of the Croke Park area to get the US President involved in the debacle.

It had been reported earlier that a group of Ballybough residents had contacted the embassy to ask if Barack Obama could make contact with Garth Brooks to try to convince him to play the Croke Park gigs.

But in a statement this lunchtime the US Embassy says it's not aware of any communications yet, and it's a matter for local authorities and the private parties involved.
