GE Money moves to reassure staff over possible sale of Irish business

The company that operates GE Money in Shannon has moved to assure around 120 staff that its business as usual at its County Clare facility.

GE Capital announced its intention to sell its Irish consumer mortgage assets and operating platform last week as part of its quarterly communications with investors.

Prior to this local management at GE Money in Shannon held talks with its 120 staff there about the pending announcement in an effort to quell any fears but staff expressed deep concern over their future positions.

However in a statement to Clare FM the company insists that” its business as usual.”

A spokesperson added that  "if a buyer is found for the Shannon operation  – the company is fully committed to ensuring the best possible long-term outcome for the business, its people and customers – to ensure the maximum amount of jobs are retained if the business is sold. "

He went on to say that "No suggestions or announcements have been made on the closure of the business or pending redundancies and added that GE Money Ireland continues to actively manage the Irish loan books, focusing on collections and loss mitigation, and working with customers who find themselves in financial difficulties.
