A US golfer has appeared in court in Ennis following a late-night altercation at Donald Trump's Doonbeg golf resort.
33-year-old Anthony Criscione of City Place, White Plains, New York had been part of a team that had won a tournament in Doonbeg.
However, he was arrested at 2:20 a.m. yesterday morning following an altercation with two others at the resort's bar.
Mr Criscione swapped the five-star resort for a night in Garda Custody before yesterday's appearance at Ennis District Court which heard that he had produced a knife during a dispute.
However, Gardaí were satisfied that the blade of the lock knife had not been exposed, while his solicitor argued that he wasn't the instigator.
Mr. Criscione had been charged with possession of the knife, and this was struck out by Judge Aeneas McCarthy.
