Goverment U Turn on some health cuts

The Government’s U-turn on cuts to personal assistant hours is being welcomed by disability groups.

The HSE has been told not to go ahead with the controversial cutbacks – after protests outside Government Buildings yesterday.

The measures were one element of the 130 million euro of cost saving measures announced by the Health Service Executive last Thursday and the rest of the cutback will go ahead as planned.

The Opposition says the U-turn shows that the management of the health services is in chaos.
