Government again urged to use shareholdings to save Aer Lingus jobs

There’s just one week to go until the deadline for redundancies at Aer Lingus and the government is being urged to save transatlantic routes and 102 cabin crew jobs at Shannon by exercising its shareholding rights.

The Transport Minister has previously insisted the government cannot intervene in the former state airline’s commercial decisions, but members of Clare County Council are once again questioning why the government bothered holding on to 25% of the company if that’s the case.
