There’s been major progress on the new development of Ennis National School.
The Education Department has given the thumbs up for detailed design documents to be drawn up and planning permission sought for the proposed new school on the Kilrush Road.
This will now allow the board of management to proceed to the construction phase -pending the outcome of planing permission from Clare County Council.
The design plans are expected to be completed within weeks and the project will then be able to go to tender once the blueprints get approval from the local authority.
The proposed school which was first authorised by the government four years ago will feature 32 classrooms and ancillary facilities and accommodate approximately 800 pupils.
