An application for EU Funding to help retrain hundreds of out of work Dell employees in the Mid West is set to be made by government in the next fortnight.
The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund aims to support workers in regions hit hardest by the global downturn and has a maximum annual budget of 500 million euro.
Following Dell’s decision to pull manufacturing from it Raheen facility with the loss of nearly 2 thousand jobs the government said it would apply for EU funding for the workers.
Clare TD and Junior Minister Tony Killeen says he’s received confirmation from the Tainaiste that their application was being progressed and should be lodged in the next fortnight.
Minister Killeen also stated that a greater level of funding is open to the government if it applies after the 1st of May.
