The Government is expected to announce plans to lift the ban on turf cutting on some raised bogs today.
Heritage Minister Jimmy Deenihan will publish two documents for public consultation on the issue.

It’ll include plans to de-designate some bogs where turf cutting is banned, pending European approval, in order to reduce the number of people who are currently prevented from turf cutting.
Turf cutting is banned at Tullaher Lough and Bog near Doonbeg under current legislation, though it’s not known whether this designation will change.
