Government Urged To Intervene To Avoid All-Out Nursing Strike

The INMO’s Midwest representative is urging the government to engage in meaningful discussions now to avert an all-out nursing strike next year.

A ballot of the 40,000 Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation members saw them vote by a decisive 95% in favour of strike action in the ongoing row over pay and staff retention.

The union says these issues are risking patient safety and contributing to overcrowding at the country’s hospitals, while the executive will meet next month to set dates for a series of 24-hour stoppages.
