The Garda Representative Association says it has no confidence in the Justice Minister.
The motion was proposed and adopted at a meeting of the GRA Central Executive Committee in Dublin today.
The union is also seeking urgent talks on the impact of cuts with the Garda Commissioner.
Last week – the GRA followed the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors by withdrawing from the public sector pay talks.
Yesterday – the Justice Minister renewed his call on the Garda unions to re-engage with the negotiations on extending the Croke Park Agreement.
However – the GRA Central Executive Committee has today passed a no confidence motion in Alan Shatter.
The rank and file officers representative body is also requesting the Garda Commissioner to outline to the force – whether he believes any further reduction in pay will have a negative effect on policing.
The GRA is seeking an urgent meeting with Martin Callinan to outline the difficulties Gardai are dealing with – accusing him of being unaware of the impact ypay and resource cuts are having.
