Campaigners have reacted with scepticism to the news that the Shannon leisure centre will be refurbished and reopened in the coming months.
Yesterday the board of the Shannon Swimming and Leisure Centre announced that the facility which has been shut for over a year will now undergo a 1.4 million Euro redevelopment and create 18 new jobs by July.
Earlier this month residents who set up a face book page entitled save Shannon pool held a protest march to the town council demanding answers.
Sean O Callaghan is one of the organisers and while welcoming the announced reopening says many questions remain unanswered and doesn’t believe the jobs announced are new
