Ennis has received its first ever national Gum Litter Tidy Towns Award.
The accolade, which Clare’s County Council scooped at the national awards in Dublin last September, was presented at a special regional ceremony in Bunratty Castle yesterday.

A cheque for a thousand euro was also presented to the local tidy towns committee for their win in the Urban Centre Category.
Presenting the award chairman of the Gum Litter Taskforce Paul Kelly praised Ennis’ commitment to the community and its contribution to the campaign to stamp out chewing gum littering.
