Clare’s Independent TD insists he will not be joining up with fellow independents to form a new pro-life, rural political party.
It follows reports that a number of deputies, including Dr Michael Harty, have held talks on the possibility of establishing one ahead of the next election.
Rural issues, preventing drink-driving reforms and retaining the Eighth Amendment are the policies Cork South West TD Michael Collins says would be at its core.
