Clare Haurliers say a government suggestion that they be allowed to use the Limerick Tunnel for free would provide a boost to the sector.
Minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed the government is looking at the proposal, after a 'toll holiday' last November saw a 70 per cent increase in the number of trucks taking the route which avoids Limerick City.

The government would have to cover the cost of this if it is implemented Minister Varadkar says it could provide savings in the longer term.
Bunratty-based Eoin Gavin, President of the Irish Road Hauliers Association, is hoping the Minister presses ahead with the plan.
